The Archdiocese of Oklahoma received a letter from a former Oklahoma resident claiming that he had been abused by a priest in the archdiocese in the 1980s, officials said in a news release.
The letter, which is dated Aug. 17, claims that the former Oklahoma resident was abused by now-former priest Ben Zoeller in 1985. It comes in the wake of the grand jury report on clergy abuse in Pennsylvania, which accused a succession of church leaders of covering up abuse by 300 Catholic priests since the 1940s.
