A son and a daughter of David and Louise Turpin spoke out in court Friday after the parents pleaded guilty to 14 felony counts of abuse of their children over several decades.
If
you want to kill yourself... or look a fool... for every one to see
you... the way we all see you... act out on your taking of drugs... here
are some for you... just remember your kids are the first to see you...
and they take that in... as it is always on their minds... to do it...
when they are older... like what their silly parents do...
drugs
kill... and the first thing that is killed... is your brain... that is
why you never remember about... the stupid things you do... while you
are on a high... if your kids do it when they are older... it is
because... you had already given your children... the go ahead... by
taking drugs yourself.... when they were little... remember your
children... while you take that sniff... or that needle... because if
you do it... they will sure to do... as you do... Ann

New Zealand has the worst rate of family
and intimate-partner violence in the world. A shocking 80 per cent of
incidents go unreported — so what we know of family violence in our
community is barely the tip of the iceberg.
Today is part three of We’re
Better Than This, a week long series on family violence. Our aim is to
raise awareness, to educate, to give an insight into the victims and
perpetrators. We want to encourage victims to have the strength to speak
out, and abusers the courage to change their behaviour.
There was a toddler with swollen thumbs who kept coming in to the pediatric clinic where Dr. Ann Botash was working. She and the other doctors wondered if he had a joint problem
or an immune disease that could be causing his painful puffy thumbs and
vomiting.
Then the child returned to Upstate University Hospital in a
coma. It turned out his mother's boyfriend had been hanging the
boy by his thumbs. Then the man used the child as a punching bag, which was
causing the vomiting. The doctors discovered the abuse only because the
boyfriend confessed, Botash said.
The family of a young mother who died with her toddler has called on victims of domestic violence to ‘speak up’.
Jasmine
Riley was found dead at the bottom of a Maroubra cliff face, with her

If you are reading this right now, then chances are you have been
manipulated by someone at some point in your life. There is also a good
chance you are being manipulated right now. Teachers, co-workers,
relationship partners, friends, and family are usually the ones who end
up manipulating us because we feel as though we can trust them. Because
we feel like we can trust them, we open ourselves up to persuasion,
manipulation, and being emotionally abused by them.
If we want to avoid being manipulated, the first thing you have to do
is recognize that you are in fact being manipulated. All this really
requires is self-honesty and the willingness to admit to ourselves that
we are being taken advantage of. Once you recognize the problem, you
can begin to fix it. Here are 3 ways to avoid being manipulated and
what you can do if you suspect someone is manipulating you:
These
days, stalking isn’t just someone being followed or the stalker
physically breaking into a home, according to a speaker at a domestic
violence symposium on Friday.
Michelle M. Garcia, the director of the Stalking Resource
Center in Washington D.C. and a speaker at the local symposium, said
stalkers use cell phones, computers and GPS devices to go after their
victims, generally women.
