From July 1, in a momentous step forward, survivors of institutional sexual abuse have the opportunity to access justice through a national redress scheme. A redress scheme was one of the major recommendations of the royal commission, however, there are some tricky legal aspects to the scheme survivors need to be aware of. All government institutions are participating in the scheme, as well as some private institutions that have joined - the Catholic Church, the Anglican Church, the Salvation Army, YMCA, Scouts Australia and the Uniting Church
