The federal government has urged state and territory counterparts to sign up to a scheme to compensate victims of child sexual abuse, declaring the time for excuses is over. Social Services Minister Christian Porter said he was optimistic state jurisdictions would come on board with the scheme in the "not-too-distant" future.
"We're reaching a very critical point where the time for excuses minimises down to very little or nothing and decisions have to be made very much sooner rather later," Mr Porter told Sky News.
