New Ulm - In a letter from the Diocese of New Ulm, dated May 12, the
Office of the Bishop informed its parishioners that one of its late
priests, Fr. Harry Majerus, a priest in New Ulm (among other places in
Minnesota), is accused of abusing children sexually while pursuing
duties as a church leader.
Majerus died in 1995, but served the Catholic Church for decades. He was ordained in September 1942, according to the letter, for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. He served a variety of parishes there until 1957 and served other areas such as Redwood Falls, Burnsville and New Ulm to name a few. He retired from ministry in 1991.
