Cardinal George Pell, Pope Francis’s trusted finance minister, has
admitted that he ignored claims a priest was sexually abusing children,
the first admission of its kind from such a senior figure in the
Catholic Church.
Giving evidence to an Australian royal commission on abuse, Cardinal Pell revealed how a schoolboy complained to him in the mid-1970s that a priest was “misbehaving” with boys at a school in his native Australia.
