The commission investigating the commercialisation of religion wants
law enforcement agencies to step in as church leaders are increasingly
breaking the law. The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of
Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities has been summonsing
pastors to appear before its committee investigating the abuse of
people's belief systems.
This week, at hearings held in Eastern Cape, chairwoman Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva said: "The very important concerns would be when people break the laws of the country. It is very urgent that law enforcement should do what they have to do.
