A former seminary student from Columbus remains in jail in California tonight after waiving his right to a detention hearing. Joel Wright was back in federal court. According to the San Diego
Times, he agreed to be held without bail until his preliminary hearing
and arraignment on Feb. 25.
Wright was arrested in San Diego last Friday after police say he was planning a trip to Mexico with the intent of having sex with a child. If convicted, he faces 30 years to life in prison on the most serious charge.
