The
Diocese of Syracuse, New York, has reached an agreement with local
prosecutors to report all allegations of sexual abuse by clergy.
Under the agreement, which was announced at a joint press
conference on October 28, the diocese will pass along all credible
accusations against priests to local prosecutors, before conducting any
internal investigation.
The diocese agreed to disclose all accusations against priests, regardless of when they are made or when the abuse allegedly took place. However, the agreement does not provide for public identification of the priests who are accused.
