Summary of Case: A priest of the Missionaries of the
Holy Family ordained in 1973, Chateauvert worked in parishes and a
hospital in Los Angeles CA archdiocese, Ottowa Canada, and in the
dioceses of Springfield IL and Duluth MN. In December 1992 he was
arrested on suspicion of the sexual abuse over a three-year period of
two Duluth MN teenage boys.
He was convicted and sentenced to six months in jail. Chateauvert died March 3, 1999. His name was included on the Duluth diocese's list released in December 2013 of clergy who had been credibly accused of the sexual abuse of young persons while serving in the diocese.
