Queen's Counsel Karen Clark will lead an inquiry into how the Air
Force handled complaints of sex abuse, harassment and bullying against
former sergeant Robert Roper, the Defence Force has announced.
It was first revealed in July that an inquiry would be held, after Roper's victims, supported by rape survivor advocate Louise Nicholas, lobbied Air Force chief Air Vice-Marshal Mike Yardley. Roper committed sexual offences against at least five girls, including his own daughter, in the 1970s and 80s while in the transport division at Hobsonville, West Auckland. He left the Air Force in 1989.
