Perth Catholic Archbishop Timothy Costelloe urges Church to stand by child sex abuse victims, survivors

Perth’s top Catholic Archbishop Timothy Costelloe says the conviction of Cardinal George Pell is a reminder of the need for the church to focus on the victims of child sexual abuse. In a pastoral letter published to worshippers today, Archbishop Costelloe says he will refrain from making any comments on Cardinal Pell’s “situation” until all legal appeals are complete, but says the Church must never minimise the gravity of even one instance of sexual abuse of a minor.
