Eric MacLeish still hasn’t seen ‘Spotlight’

You might think all of the principal players in “Spotlight” have seen the movie by now, especially those who have questions about the way they’re portrayed in the Oscar-nominated film based on The Boston Globe’s reporting of the Catholic Church clergy abuse scandal. You’d be wrong. Eric MacLeish, who represented many of the victims, says he’s looking forward to seeing the movie, but hasn’t yet because he’s been busy.
(MacLeish has been much in the news lately because he’s representing the victims of sexual abuse at St. George’s School, the prestigious Episcopal preparatory school in Middletown, R.I.) “My children and my friends and family have all seen it so I feel as though I know each scene,” he told us Friday. “The movie has opened up a debate and a discussion about the resources for investigative journalism and the topic of sexual abuse. That’s all positive.”
