Charlie Flanagan has adopted a “no can do” attitude to a promised inquiry into claims of mishandling of child abuse allegations in Waterford, a victim has said.
The justice minister said on Thursday that on the attorney-general’s advice a commission of inquiry into the response to complaints of abuse by Bill Kenneally, a convicted paedophile, would not proceed. He added that no action could be taken by the government until new cases being investigated by gardaí and considered by the director of public prosecutions had been resolved.
