Sir Owen Glenn has welcomed the package of initiatives aimed at
addressing family violence announced by the government, but warns they
do not go far enough.
Earlier this month the Prime Minister announced a number of proposals targeting family violence that is responsible for nearly 50 per cent of New Zealand’s homicides. The measures included the establishment of a Chief Victims’ Advisor to the Minister of Justice, the trial of an intensive case management service for family violence victims, and the trial of mobile safety alarms with GPS technology.
