The abiding lesson from work of the royal commission examining
institutions' responses to sexual abuse is that many people in authority
failed the most vulnerable among us.
The victims were young children and teenagers, who placed great faith in their teachers, priests, community leaders and others, only to have their innocence destroyed, their complaints denied or dismissed and their lives dreadfully damaged.
